I took a break from thesis work ( I probably shouldn’t have - but breaks keep you sane), and this was a contest involving a favorite writer (Neil Gaiman) and it seemed like a good opportunity to play.
The May Tale reminded me of The Doubtful Guest. My interpretation is something of a tribute to Edward Gorey. He’s one of my favorite illustrators, but I didn’t get it done in time for his birthday. I missed it by two days. ><
I really enjoyed the process for this, and it came at a time when I needed a little escape. I hope you guys enjoy this little effort, and maybe makes you smile. Check out the contest if it sounds like something you might want to do. Variety is good. Breaks are good. Play is good.
